Lifestyle & Mindset – Part II

My Word for 2018: Health

Think about your current lifestyle and mindset . . .

  • Are you adding in the ease versus the stress?
  • Are you adding in the simple versus the strain?
  • Are you checking in with your whole being?
  • Are you BEING YOU?
  • Are you DOING for you?
  • Are you making time for you and your whole being?

Remember to practice to improve the process aka work smarter not harder!

Making Time for You

What does “ME” look like to you?

  • Are you creating balance, especially in what is a priority that matters and is important.
  • Are you creating fulfillment, satisfaction, reward, etc.
  • Are you adding in relaxation and rest.
  • Are you adding in play, laughter and fun.
  • Are you making time for yourself and your whole being.

Think about what you waste your time and energy on! Are you holding on to it or actually letting go to release it? Tuning into your self worth and values to forgive yourself to move on! It can be freeing and weight lifting.

What is Your #1 or Main Motivation!

Setting Goals

The goal at the end of the day is feeling GOOD! It gets you fired up and motivated. It gets you connected to engage and experience. It gets you aligned to have balance and stability. Do more of what you love and are passionate about in living your life fully!

  • Play, laugh and have FUN!
  • Relax and Rest.
  • Discover what makes you happy, brings you joy and gives you pleasure.

The goal at the end of the day is to do what is BEST for YOU! Be open to learning, growing and experiencing. Inspire and motivate yourself as well as encourage and engage yourself and your whole being in everything you do. Set yourself up for SUCCESS!

  • Prioritize YOU!
  • Let go of the guilt in being a little selfish in making time for your needs and taking care of yourself.
  • Listen to your whole being aka check in with yourself.

The goal at the end of the day is to be and do the BEST you can be and do! Stretch your comfort zone and try new things. Make mistakes and make them teachable moments to learn and develop from. Celebrate milestones and successes. Learn to practice and trust the process. It is amazing what you discover and realize about yourself and how you live your life!

  • Get out of the same old same old by switching it up a bit.
  • Find inspiration to motivate you.
  • Forgive yourself.

Creative Inspiration

Spark Your Creativity

You know that creative being is inside you, right! Most of us have a need to create. You know you want to color outside the lines and think outside the box!

How to get motivated and let the creative juices just flow?

Inspiration and motivation is two-fold with creativity. When we lack inspiration and motivation it may be a sign to get the creative juices flowing and get out of the normal routine. Then we need inspiration and motivation to be creative. It is all part of the creative process.

Where to Start!

  • Try something new.
  • Up for a Little Challenge – Try something you do not think you are very good at.
  • Get curious and explore lots of different things.
  • Learn, learn, learn lots of different things.
  • Journal and write.
  • Read and color.
  • Cook and bake.
  • Photography or painting.
  • A picture, a motivational quote or an inspirational story.
  • Get out into nature.
  • Be around other creative beings.
  • Play music and dance.
  • Meditating or letting your mind wander.

Another key piece of the creative process is to let the creativity go and let it evolve! Focus on the process at hand. Express your whole self. Just envision, innovate and create!

Love and enjoy the process of creating! Take pleasure and joy from creating and let it inspire and motivate your whole being. Be proud of what you create because it is an expression of you. Most of all do it because you love it!

The Slump

When Your Get Up Is GONE!

You know what I am talking about when it comes to the slump! It comes rushing in at 10:00 a.m. or taking over at 2:00 p.m. or has you crashing by 6:00 p.m. It is seasonal as well as happens when we fall back or spring forward with time. How do you maintain your energy throughout the day?

We cannot always be in the “on” position! Sooner or later we are going to crash and burn out. It is not pretty and then when you get sick on top of that it is just plain nasty business!

Being Active . . . Moving . . . Stretching . . .

All your energy is going out, but is it coming back in a good, healthy way! Probably not. This explains the slump, the tiredness, the crash, the fatigue, the burn out! Then try to shut your whole being down to get a good, restful sleep of 4 to 8 hours. It can be quite the cycle that takes a toll on your whole being, especially in adding stress, anxiety and tension to the mix!

Hello Caffeine and Sugar!

  • How do you use your energy wisely?
  • How do you use your time efficiently and effectively?
  • How do you motivate yourself?

Nourishing the body is key as well as hydrating throughout the day! Finding that balance between good protein and not overloading on carbs. Finding that balance with blood sugars, so you are not swinging from low to high and high to low. Find that balance that works best for you and your body to avoid the slump!

Hydrating . . . Refreshing . . . Recharging . . .

I give myself at least 15-minutes in the morning to relax and at least 30-minutes in the evening to unwind! I can get ready for the day and that unwinding in the evening helps prepare me for a good nights sleep. It is a work in progress in getting that restorative sleep to feel rested and have energy all day long though!

Action

Staying Motivated

Never Give In & Never Give Up! Especially On Yourself!

In the world of instant gratification it can be frustrating when the results are not coming fast enough! How do you stay motivated? How do you not just give in and give up? Sometimes it comes down to not focusing in on the results and focusing on the process instead!

Patience is key as well as reminding yourself why you started in the first place! What does matter to you and why is most important to you? Sometimes you have to go within yourself to stay motivated and committed. This will help you get in touch as to why you started and maybe how to go through the process!

Like I have been told by one very strong woman, “Act like a duck and let it roll right off your back”.

The hardest part is continuing on when you hit obstacles, do not see results or even hit a wall! Do not give up and quit so easily at this point though!

  • Think of ways to conquer those obstacles.
  • Reflect on what you have achieved at that present moment.
  • Figure a way through or over that wall.

Focus on what you need and want instead of what you want to see! Put aside thinking and trying to do and achieve for approval and validation and even the ego driven. Be true to yourself and honest with yourself in what you want to achieve. That is your motivation to keep going!

Inspire yourself from within and you can do anything!

I am learning that it is about practice and progress instead of perfection and expectation! I take it one day at a time too. I do set goals though on a weekly and monthly basis to keep me motivated and to stay on course. I focus on the changes and not on the end results!

I feel better as well as my whole being is happier and healthier! I need to give myself love and care. I need to share, give and receive from myself and others. I am able and it is doable to overcome challenging moments with ease when I come from a place of love instead of fear!

Powering Through

Exercise Motivation

I do not always feel up to working out, but I make a commitment to myself to go at least two times a week no matter what! I really struggle on days where I am tired, in a foul mood or just had a negative, downer day. I use the motivation to go by telling myself I will feel much better after exercising and I do! I also find the motivation in putting on my work out clothes and my tennis shoes on. It is go time!

Getting Into Gear & Just Going . . .

I am constantly telling myself I can do this or that or at least give it a try! I grew up being active and pretty athletic. That helps when it comes to working out and exercising. I tell my crazy mind what I am doing and put my body into action!

I am learning that I am stronger than I think! I am creating that  foundation to build off of to get stronger and to develop my endurance over time. I am learning that there is a difference between my inner strength and my physical strength. I am discovering my strong and enjoying the process!

Discovering My STRONG!

I am learning that I have to continue to challenge my whole being! I need to stimulate my mind, engage my body and tune in from the inside out. It certainly helps me in all aspects of my life too! I use to think repeat and repeat. Now I think practice and repeat, which leads to challenge and results in change. I love seeing the results and gaining the rewards!

I am pushing my body and my whole being to new limits and actually like it! Challenging and different are good for me. I am okay with sweating now because I know I am working hard! I can do anything for at least 20 seconds when pushing my body, especially in doing something new. Just dig in and get it done already because then it will be over!

One Step At A Time  . . .

I am my biggest cheerleader and supporter! I motivate, inspire and encourage myself. Yes, I talk to myself when working out. Yes, I make a few noises when working out. Yes, I can laugh at myself and have a good time doing it too!

The Wheel of Life

Getting On, Getting Off Or Getting Stuck On It

I feel stuck on the wheel of life at times and while I got on I cannot seem to get off sometimes! I am so dizzy!

Did you ever stop to think,

and forget to start again? ~Winnie the Pooh

One BIG Wheel!

What about you?

I have days and weeks and sometimes even months where I feel on, off or plain stuck when it comes to certain aspects in living my life! I am learning that I have to find my own balance when it comes to myself and my needs. My professional life is stuck on idle lately and has been that way for a little too long! I know I have to rev it up and keep it moving forward though.

Starting the Day

How do you motivate yourself to jump start what is “stuck” in your life?

High Expectations

I tend to get stopped in my tracks when I set my expectations too high! I have to ask myself why I want something and then figure out how to go about getting it. This gives me the opportunity to listen to my needs and what I want in my life. Does this really matter to me or not?

The Next Thing Syndrome

I love getting jump started by thinking if I move on to the next thing and the next thing and the next thing I will get unstuck! All that really does for me is kick my frustration and impatience into high gear. Sometimes I take a break or at least a step back to take a new approach to seeing myself in my current situation! Sometimes that gives me the push I need to head in the right direction or at least gets me moving one foot in front of the other.

The Next and the next and the next OR Seeing the Beauty Instead

Gotta Love Procrastination

I love when procrastination sets in while being stuck! I try to motivate myself and even that backfires at times. This is especially true when it comes to a change or a transition in my life that I want no part in! I just dig myself deeper in, find the most comfortable position and wait it out. Someone hand me a rope or shovel, pretty please!

I also feel at times procrastination sets in because it just does not feel right to me to make a change or tranisiton in my life! I want to take the time to figure out the whys and why nots as well as weigh the pros and cons in making a change or transition in my life. Sometimes I do not want to make a change because I feel safe with the familiar and if it is not broke why fix it. Sometimes I do not want to make a change because it is not the right change to make at that time. Sometimes I make the change and end up on a path that I do not want to be on, but that is okay because I can change it again and again!

Learning to Coast Along . . .

Get Going, Stopped and Stuck Once Again

I love when I get myself going and barely get going before I am stopped and stuck again! It is like my mind and my body have the worst case of hiccups ever. I think it is my way of pausing and reflecting as well as looking at the directions to make sure I am going in the direction I want! I have to figure out what I need as I go along in order to head in the direction I want.

I really just have to figure out and find my own pace and balance when it comes to living my life! I also have to learn how to get on and off the “wheel of life” better and much smoother too!

What Gets You Motivated, Engaged, Fired Up? At times my motivation comes from me and other times it comes from other people. Sometimes motivation comes from finding that creative streak. Other times motivation comes from saving time and frustration.
