The Slump

When Your Get Up Is GONE!

You know what I am talking about when it comes to the slump! It comes rushing in at 10:00 a.m. or taking over at 2:00 p.m. or has you crashing by 6:00 p.m. It is seasonal as well as happens when we fall back or spring forward with time. How do you maintain your energy throughout the day?

We cannot always be in the “on” position! Sooner or later we are going to crash and burn out. It is not pretty and then when you get sick on top of that it is just plain nasty business!

Being Active . . . Moving . . . Stretching . . .

All your energy is going out, but is it coming back in a good, healthy way! Probably not. This explains the slump, the tiredness, the crash, the fatigue, the burn out! Then try to shut your whole being down to get a good, restful sleep of 4 to 8 hours. It can be quite the cycle that takes a toll on your whole being, especially in adding stress, anxiety and tension to the mix!

Hello Caffeine and Sugar!

  • How do you use your energy wisely?
  • How do you use your time efficiently and effectively?
  • How do you motivate yourself?

Nourishing the body is key as well as hydrating throughout the day! Finding that balance between good protein and not overloading on carbs. Finding that balance with blood sugars, so you are not swinging from low to high and high to low. Find that balance that works best for you and your body to avoid the slump!

Hydrating . . . Refreshing . . . Recharging . . .

I give myself at least 15-minutes in the morning to relax and at least 30-minutes in the evening to unwind! I can get ready for the day and that unwinding in the evening helps prepare me for a good nights sleep. It is a work in progress in getting that restorative sleep to feel rested and have energy all day long though!

Have You Seen It?

Have You Experienced It?

I have taken for granted my great sleep pattern and now it is no more! I am hoping my body realizes sooner than later that it is not a yo-yo. I have days where I feel as if I do everything half-arse due to lack of sleep. I do not like waking up in the morning and feeling as if I have not sleep or rested at all!

Wide Awake

I know my health suffers due to lack of proper rest! I am tired and cranky and unbearable to be around at times. I either eat very little or finally find my appetite and pig out. I am just not myself or in my right mental state some days!

I want to try and restore that sleep pattern naturally! I have a hard time staying asleep throughout the night. I miss that deep sleep rhythm. I miss being able to sleep in too. Thank goodness for taking naps on the weekends if I need it!

I am trying my best to fit in sleep and rest when I can for now! I am exercising throughout the week. I am drinking plenty of water and feeding my body. I am trying to give my body what it needs and not deprive it, especially sleep and rest!

Getting a Jump

On the Day

Lay off the snooze button because every time you hit the snooze your body is so confused with the resetting and cannot adjust! Plus when your alarm does go off just lay in bed and do some stretching. Help yourself wake up those tired muscles, increase your circulation and improve your flexibility in less than 5 minutes. Feels Oh So Good Too!

Remember to get your 7 to 9 hours of sleep! When you are well rested it makes it just a little easier to jump start your day. I like reading for about 30 minutes before bed. Find what works for you to get a good, quality rest!

Give yourself some inspiration and motivation to get up, get out there and grab life! Think about something that gives you a burst of energy! Go . . .

How do you get a jump on your day?

I usually jump start my day with a protein packed smoothie (low-fat, high fiber too)! Sometimes I am craving a strong cup of coffee and an egg breakfast. On the weekends I either hit the gym or hit the couch for a few hours of surfing. I am a morning person, but not before 6 am!

How do you keep going throughout the day?

Two words for me:  Lunch Break! An hour to get away from my desk to recharge and reenergize. Sometimes I go for a walk outside and other times I like to enjoy a good read. Just depends on the type of day I am having!

How does exercise fit into your day during the week?

I prefer my sleep to exercise in the mornings, so good luck waking this sleeping bear to exercise in the A.M. I get a 2nd wind by 4 pm, so enjoy hitting the gym after work. I enjoy taking a brisk walk during my morning and afternoon breaks. The fresh air is so cleansing to your body, mind and spirit!

Here’s to Conquering Your Day!!!
