BridgePort Brew Pub
BridgePort Brew Pub is located at 1313 NW Marshall in Portland.
Decided to hit BridgePort Brew Pub the first day in Portland for lunch. You could smell the beer brewing before even stepping inside and once inside the smell of baking bread. Went back to BridgePort to check out the Happy Hour scene and it was hopping and a whole lot of fun. Great Brews, Amazing Eats and Great Atmosphere!
Cascade Brewing Barrel House
The Place of Sours
Cascade Brewing Barrel House is located at 939 SE Belmont in Portland.
The Service was Excellent. Great Place to Hang Out, Relax and Drink Great Brews and Sours. The cheese and meat platter paired beyond belief with the brews we were tasting – YUM! Cascade is a 10 in my book!
I finally found “Beer Wine”!!!
The Vine
Sour Blend – Tripel, Blonde and Golden Ales that are then fermented with the juice of white wine grapes. A Great Tasting Sipping “Beer Wine”!
Noyeaux
Sour Blend – A blend of Belgian strong blondes that is aged in white port barrels with raspberries. Do I have your attention??? Here’s where it gets interesting. Then this is blended with select barrels of strong blondes aged on the toasted meat from the apricot nut (Noyeaux). Inventive, right!
Bourbonic Plague
This One is Lethal! A Blend of strong dark porters that are aged in Oak, Wine and Bourbon barrels. Huh?!? – Stick With Me Here! Then this is blended with a dark porter brewed with vanilla beans and cinnamon. Then this blend is aged for an additional 14 months.
Sang Noir
My Favorite – Not for the Faint of Heart! The color is a deep, dark red and aged over a year in Pinot and Whiskey barrels. Then this is blended in a barrel with Bing cherries.
Nightfall
Interesting Combination! Sour Blend – Think Soured Blonde meets Wheat Beer and is aged for 12 months in oak barrels. Then this blend is laid on blackberries for another six months. The fruit is intense, the color is unbelievable and the aroma is breathtaking!
Razberry Wheat
A Wheat Beer with a Twist! A “Ruby Pink” Wheat Beer. The brew was crisp, tart (just a little lip smacking, but in a good way) and refreshing with a note or aroma of raspberries.
The Brew Master at Cascade is INGENIOUS – Great Brews with Sophistication!!!
Deschutes Brewery
Deschutes Brewery is located at 210 NW 11th Avenue in Portland.
The Deschutes Brewery is Beautiful with AMAZING wood and wood art. The sink in the ladies restroom would love to have in my kitchen at home. Great Place for hanging out at the bar or moving into the dining room for an excellent meal!
Here is what I tasted at Deschutes:
Beer – The Cascade Ale
House-made Root Beer – Sold Out
Wine – The Pinot Gris from Jovino (Dundee, OR)
Ate – Seared Sea Scallops in Mirror Pond Pale Ale Butter, Lemon Risotto with baby spinach and crispy prosciutto. Obsidian Stout Mac and Cheese; cavatappi pasta tossed in stout cream sauce with fennel sausage and topped with bread crumbs. To DIE For People!!!
Ate Dessert Too – The Peanut Butter MELT DOWN – a hot chocolate cake with chocolate ganache and peanut butter ice cream. I am in HEAVEN People!!!
Lucky Labrador
Lucky Labrador, Quimby Brew Hall is located at 1945 NW Quimby in Portland.
Had a Slice of Pie and Splurged on a Fresh from the Oven Chocolate Chip Cookie (big enough for 2 people). Great Place to Meet Up with Friends after Work or on the Weekend! The Brew Hall is massive and offers an outdoor seating area too.
Rogue
Rogue is located at 1339 NW Flanders in Portland.
Barely settling down in the bar area and a taster of a Saison style beer was being served. Loving this place already!
Here is what I tasted at Rogue:
- Mom’s Hefenweizen
- Oregasmic Ale
- Mocha Porter
- Chocolate Stout
Favorite: The Mocha Porter
Sat in the bar area, which was sunny and could look out on to the sidewalk. Plus could turn around and look at the wall of taps. One important note when you are tasting here you will be handed a “book of beers” to choose from, so settle in and enjoy the overall experience! Plus Rogue does not discriminate because there is Coors Light on tap too.
Upright Brewing
Upright Brewing is located at 240 N Broadway, Ste 2 (which is in the Basement) in Portland.
Located in the Lloyd District – Lloyd Center Mall & Lloyd Center Ice Rink, Oregon Convention Center and Rose Quarter (home to the NBA’s Trail Blazers & Western Hockey League’s Winterhawks).
Cool Beer, Cool Place
Upright offers a unique experience for the beer enthusiast! The brews are like France & Belgium meet up with local ingredients & the Pacific Northwest. From the classic to the unique in their brews. True Creativity and Craft!
Tasting by Numbers!
FOUR is a wheat beer. Aromas and flavors were herbal as well as floral. Light, dry and with a tart finish.
FIVE had me guessing when it came to this brew. A fermented fruit aroma with a little hop and a twist of caramel. A complex brew with a good balance in the finish.
SIX is a rye beer. A dark colored brew that is dry and refreshing in the finish.
SEVEN is a little Belgian in style with a twist of fruitiness and hops as well as spice and herbs. This brew has heft and a dryness in the finish.
Widmer Brothers Brewing Company
Widmer Brothers Brewing Company is located at 929 N Russell in Portland.
Had the Best Lunch at Widmer! Sausage, Saukerkraut, Carmelized Onions, and Potato Salad. Of Course the Brews were EXCELLENT too!
Here is what I tasted at Widmer:
- Hefenweizen
- Drop Top Amber Ale
- Marionberry Hibiscus Gose
- Oatmeal Porter
- O’Casey’s Irish Stout
- Raspberry Russian Imperial Stout
Favorite: The Oatmeal Porter – YUM!!!

Nice review! You didn’t hit Hair of the Dog, though- mmm, high gravity. I assume you like sours; when we went to Cascade Brewery Barrel House I could barely finish my tasting sips while my wife just loved them all. And I agree that beer is an awesome hobby!
