Recess Time

PLAY

How about setting a bell to go off throughout the day for a little recess time to play, laugh and/or have some fun time?

Play Time . . .

I get out and about in the community I live in and pick up on some interesting things going on. I was on a bike ride and heard laughter in the park I biked past. There was a group of people gathered just laughing. Then I was walking past a school and it was recess time. I heard the teacher state to the kids, “I did not state to sit down, but run, run to burn off the energy”. Ha!

Playing is a great release, especially for adults! Put down the work and just play. Create. Try new things. Get curious and explore. Go on an adventure!

Getting Curious, Exploring and Adventuring . . .

Find you inner kid! Kids play hard and really immerse themselves in their play. To feel that overwhelming fun that brings one joy and happiness. To have an ounce of that kid energy!

It is so not a waste of time! Take a break from the doing and the busyness. Your tiredness may just find a second wind in taking time to play!

  • It is freeing, releasing and re-energizing.
  • It is a sense of belonging when play involves the community you live in.
  • It is a release of mental energy in getting out of your head and physically moving your body for a change of pace.
  • It is tapping into our best selves by having fun and being fun and social around others again.
  • The BEST is it just makes your day, puts a smile on your face and a skip in your step!

I love going on adventures, riding my bicycle and recently got the trivia bug again. I enjoy taking an evening walk around my neighborhood to see who is out and about and what is going on.

Living It

The BEST Way for Your Whole Well Being

Jonathan Fields is the author of How to Live a Good Life: Soulful Stories, Surprising Science, and Pratical Wisdom. I like his candidness of moving through our lives on “autopilot busyness”. All those “dis” words we have and use in our vocabulary . . . disconnected, disengaged, dissatisfied.

Are we going through the motions to get through the daily grind? Do we have the knowledge and tools? Do we have the mindset and support? To live the good life!

Moving . . .

In my own mind I am thinking on my feet while I am truly tripping over my own two feet! I do not come from a place of grace or patience at times. I know I wish some days I could shift and adapt with more ease. I do need to stay in charge and tap into my strengths. I do need to do what works best for me too!

  • How do you live the talk you tell yourself?

What does a life well lived really mean to each and every one of us?

  • It is practice and progress.
  • It is passion and pursuit.
  • It is practical and you just be, go and do each and every day.

At times you know how and where to begin and other times you do not! Sometimes you have to hope, believe and trust in yourself. To have faith. To go with your instinct. To release and let go, especially in what you have no control over!

  • How does one live life with direction and purpose?

At times you have to test the waters! To dip a big toe in. To wade in. To just go for it and jump in!

dsc_0561
Testing . . .

At times there is going to be challenges, uncertainty and the fear of the unknown! You have to weigh the potential along with the risks. There is also achievement and success. You have to create and innovate to find what you love to do and truly discover your passions!

  • How does one live life with action and impact?

Get curious and just grab life and live it! Embrace the life lessons and opportunities to develop, to experience growth and gain life experiences. Ask for what you need and want as well as dream and desire. Lean in with love to support yourself and your greatest someones. Everything you discover can be actionable and through the experience validates impact and meaning in living your life!

Life is like an exploration where you find your path to discover the gifts and treasures while journeying along!  Communicate, interact and engage. Cultivate, contribute and do your best. Love and be love and learn to share that love with others. Each day is a new start!

Escape to the GREAT OUTDOORS – Enjoy!!!

Go On An Adventure

Discover Time

When was the last time you went on an adventure? At least weekly for me, especially in escaping to the Great Outdoors.

Are you one that makes every outing an adventure? At times for me.

Are you one that finds fun in everything? I really try to.

Get Curious and Explore

A great way to get active and motivated as well as stimulated and engaged! Check out the sights and the happenings. Find the excitement, joy and pleasure in the small, simple and new! Refreshing and renewing too.

I love a good stroll to peak my curiosity and stimulate my inner explorer. Outdoor play is a fun way to get the exercise in too.

Good for the whole being!

Navigation Challenged

Where Am I?

Do you wish for a sign that states “YOU ARE HERE” and still have no clue where you are at? Does deciphering ANY map (including the one at the mall) make you break out in a sweat and send you into a panic attack? Do you pretend you know where you are at in order to get someone to tell you where you really are? Then you may be “Navigation Challenged”!

DSC_0184

  • Do you pretty much take the same route every time to get somewhere even if it is the long way there?
  • Do you avoid the word “Shortcut” because you know darn well taking that shortcut is going to have you lost for at least an hour or two or maybe half the day?
  • Do you conduct a dry run a few days before hand when you have to go somewhere new and unfamiliar to you?

Some of us need detailed directions, 1 2 3, abc as well as a dry run – at least we are trying to improve our navigational skills!

Beware youmay get lost.

However, think of all the places you would not have seen

if you were not with the “Navigation Challenged”.

A Natural Bond

With Nature

Do you have a natural bond with nature? Do you like to get out and into the Great Outdoors?

Yes and yes for me! That quality time with myself. That grounded feeling with my feet touching the terra firma. That connection to my whole being!

DSC_0056

I love to wander to wonder and let my body, heart and mind just be free!

Nature is unique and magical! Nature provides inspiration and motivation. Nature is accessible and for the most part a free activity to enjoy. Nature makes you want to slow the pace down to enjoy your surroundings and tap into your senses!

There are many ways to experience nature.

  • Gardening.
  • Going to the Farmers Market to explore, eat and wander as well as pick out fruits, veggies and/or flowers.
  • Going to a Pick Your Own Place for fruits and/or veggies (i.e. apples, berries, pumpkins, etc.).
  • Eco friendly activities (i.e. ziplining, paddle boarding, fishing, etc.).
  • Foraging (make sure you know what is edible and what is not – take a tour with an expert).
  • Journaling, creating and/or capturing your explorations and adventures.
  • Learning in general. Cooking and Creating. Gardening and Foraging. Fauna and flora. Endless possibilities!
  • Seeking out an adventure.
  • Sparking your curiosity to explore as well as using your senses to smell and even taste.
  • Walking, hiking, biking, etc. Hitting the nature trail or exploring nature and its natural beauty.

Practicing Curiosity

Stretching Your Whole Being

I know I talk about being curious and exploring. I know I talk about finding your passion and purpose too.

How do you go about it though?

Some people cannot relate or identify to having a passion. It can be stressful, frustrating and downright confusing. It can make you assess your value and worth. Fact: 80% of the population cannot relate or identify a passion; 8 out of 10 people!

“I feel very grateful that I’m able to have my passion be my career, and I believe that everyone can do the same, but I feel many people don’t know exactly what it is they are passionate about. The lucky ones who do already have a head start and can begin to peruse avenues that allow that passion to be crafted into a career. For those still looking for it, I believe it’s a deep calling and it’s OK if you haven’t found it right away because life is a journey and new paths open up to us every day. We just have to create space for those opportunities to come in.” ~Leona Lewis

How do you know what you are passionate about?

Some of us are not smacked down with that lose track of time, heart racing and life expanding passion! That is okay. There are plenty of people looking and trying to figure it out though. I feel it is more about being curious and trying new things!

I also view it as an opportunity for self discovery and the possibilities are endless! You have to nurture and cultivate curiosity for yourself. You have to try and practice and then try and practice some more. You have to have patience and time to practice and learn as well as develop and grow. You have to discover the inner YOU!

Where does one start?

By . . .

  • Getting curious.
  • Trying new things.
  • Exploring and adventuring.

What are you curious about?

“Curiosity is nothing more than the desire to explore.”

Through curiosity and exploring you discover what you like and what you do not like! You will need to get curious and try a lot of things. You will find that connection within yourself that lights you up and makes you happy. You may over time spark a passion within yourself!

Remember humility and humbleness are key! You may learn to laugh at yourself too, especially in trying new things. Play, laugh and have fun. Discover the lighter and simpler side of life through curiosity!

Curiosity is your adventure partner! Trying new things is your new sidekick. Get creative. Go on a journey of self to discover YOU!

What is your #1 curiosity right now?

  • What is speaking to you to explore, try and discover?
  • What do you want to know more about?

Fresh Air

Green Spaces

There is just something about being in the fresh air and seeing shades of green! I love escaping to the great outdoors and becoming one with nature!

A natural environment has health benefits too!

  • CRAVE fresh air!
  • Soak up the sunshine.
  • Become one with nature.

I am usually out in the great outdoors on the weekends! It is GOOD for my whole being!

I can only desk jockey for so long with all that sitting and computing! Plus unplugging from technology and taking a break from screen time is needed. I walk and take the stairs whenever I can. It is good for your whole being to be active in movement as well as stretch!

  • Walking and hiking.
  • Riding a bike.
  • Packing a picnic.

It is refreshing and freeing! You can slow down the pace and relax a bit. You can re-energize and recharge your whole being!

Wandering with the Wild

Hitting the Boardwalk

Flocking

The Birds that is! Hello! Spring Migration of Florida Birds!

I am more bird curious than a birdwatcher.

Many birds pass through Florida during the seasonal migrations. April is the month when birds reverse their route. The Keys and South Florida are the first safe place to land after all that flapping their way from either Cuba or the Yucatan. Some are putting on their best breeding plumage to shake a tail feather to attract a mate to create offspring.

White Pelicans

White pelicans are not completely white. Their wings are white and black. At times groups of pelicans will work together to herd fish into the shallows for easy feeding.

Watching these birds soar and then land was such a graceful experience to see. Then watching them work together to feed was another great experience to see.

A ballet of birds!

A Great Blue Heron in the Mix

I love Great Blue Herons and how majestic they look. Sometimes I do a double-check to make sure it is a real Great Blue Heron instead of a statute. They stand so motionless.

They are all stealth when it comes to feeding. Then they strike – got it!

Beautiful sight to see in action or in flight!

One Brown Pelican with a Flock of White Pelicans

Now the Brown Pelican feeds by plunge-diving from high up to use the force of the impact to stun small fish before scooping them up.

I love watching them glide over the water.

Coming in for a Landing . . . You can see the white and black wings.
