Take in the Details Too!
With all the craziness going on lately in this world it got me thinking.
Open Minded/Close Minded
Are you more open minded or closed minded when it comes to the craziness and chaos? Do you see the greater picture or focus in on the details? For me I think it depends on the situation and just how crazy and chaotic it is in order to wrap my head around it. Sometimes I feel like sticking my fingers in my ears and saying “I cannot hear you!”.

Desensitized/Aware
Do you become desensitized or more aware in your surroundings? For me some things I just have become desensitized to while other things just cause me to be more aware. The one thing that really scares the bleep out of me is that mass shootings seem to be the norm lately and that is a tragedy. There are times when the craziness gets me motivated to take action, but then I falter when not knowing what action I should take.
Explore/Shut the Door
Are you more open to explore or just shut the door and call it a day? I feel a real sense some days of people taking care of themselves and then becoming a community when tragedy strikes. That is just sad because a sense of community should result from good too. There is a real sense of distrust among people and it has become a one on one for survival lately.

Potential/Inspiration
Do you look for the potential and/or inspiration among the craziness and chaos? Do you look for ways to make a difference? If so, how do you make a difference. I would love to know!
Please note these are my opinions and ramblings that I share with you. I have tried to leave the questions open-ended, so people feel free to share in order to have a healthy discussion. Please refrain from conflict and confrontation among the discussions unless it is a healthy reaction that adds to the discussion. Thank you!

I am more likely now more than ever to skip the news. It is too depressing. I lead by example and optimism. Great post!

Oh So True in Many Ways! Sometimes seeing how other people live gives new meaning, appreciation and gratitude in your own life:) Oh So Important to Live Life with Eyes Wide Open!

What a very thought provoking post Renee. I think for the most part I like to think of the glass half full and I firmly believe that if others see that then they may look for the best in people. This is at times a very crazy world we live in so we just have to make the best of any given situation and move on; easier said than done sometimes 😉

911 changed everything and trust in strangers is in short supply. I find no inspiration in some of the world’s troubles and craziness because it does not deserve any good to be found. Too much sadness in the news as of late and not a way to bring people together, but a way to bring mistrust and fear.

Great post. Are you surprised that I like this one? 😉 For me tragedies like the Colorado shootings should make us pay more attention to the news. The real danger is that we become numb and paralyzed. That’s my two cents anyway. I am pretty open minded and I focus on the big picture, but I do think we need to pay attention. Thanks for a thoughtful post!

I tend to want to stick my fingers in my ears and say “nah nah nah” when the negative political ads are on….or any political ad.
When life & people are crazy in the news….I try to think of something good that has happened during the craziness. How someone may have risked their life to save another, how someone told his wife he loved her the day he died, that we have real life heroes in policemen, firemen, soldiers, who put their lives on the line every day, and many more.
We sometimes tend to only focus on the real horror of the situation…and we must, for awhile. We need to share feelings and give closure to the horrible tragedies. But there are always “good” stories too.

I try to make a difference through my writing and photography, to showcase the ordinary aspects and places which are truly extraordinary.
I also try to praise others and to listen. The ability to listen seems to be a forgotten art/skill.
