Creating a Cozy Spot

Creating Comfort For You

How do you go about creating a cozy spot for you? Are you in the process of creating a cozy spot? or Do you already have one?

From clean and crisp to homey and stuff. From neutral to pops of color and everything in between. From symmetry to creative to everything in between. From calm to vibrancy.

From what you love and makes you feel good. From what you actually use. From the trends to making your own style. From what makes you happy and brings you joy.

For comfort and/or healing. For relaxation and rest. For release and to let go. For yourself to be.

Adding In the Comfort Essentials

How do you add in the comfort? What are your top essentials for comfort?

  • Music (i.e. music player, instrument, music box, etc.)
  • Softness (i.e. blankets, rugs, curtains, etc.)
  • Lighting (lamps, candles, natural and adjustable lighting, etc.)
  • Reading materials (books, magazines, journals, etc.)
  • Cushion (floor cushions, throw pillows, ottomans, etc.)
  • Bold Statements (think makes you happy and makes you feel good and gives you joy)
  • Fauna and Flora
  • Artistic and Creative (i.e. artwork, paint, pops of color, etc.)
  • Mirror and Metallic (adds depth)
  • Storage (clear up a bit of the clutter)
  • Texture (adds warmth along with depth)

Find your energy along with the space’s energy! Items that make your space livable and add that lived in feeling. Remember to switch up your space from time to time to keep if fresh and inviting!

I have a few cozy spots I gravitate to.

  • Being in the kitchen cooking and experimenting.
  • Curling up in my favorite cozy spot with a great mystery.
  • Adding the extras to my bike to make it a comfort ride for my whole being.

I love adding in . . .

  • My photographs throughout my home.
  • The creative and unique along with pops of color and metallics.
  • Pillows and blankets.
  • Good lighting and how it does your whole being good.

Manifesting Comfort

Feeling GOOD!

We all want to feel good! Each and every one of us has a different way to go about it though. You have to find what works best for you and your whole, well being. You have the power to control your mood as well as your attitude.

I am not saying we are going to have sunshiney days and live on cloud nine every day, but you can come pretty close if you choose how you want to feel.

Love Comfort

How do you spread more love to yourself as well as to others? Finding that natural balance and rhythm of giving and receiving. Communicating and connecting to yourself and others. Engaging your heart as well as your mind when it comes to love sweet love!

Love is such a guiding force in living one’s life! To share and celebrate more of what you love or what you have done. It is energizing and helps give you clarity in your purpose. It is elevating and helps give you inspiration to define your “whys” in what you need to get out there to live life!

You are the one that makes great things happen!

Music Comfort

Do you sing a little ditty in your head to make you happy? You know what resonates within you to connect to yourself on a deeper level. Especially when we need comfort, pleasure, happiness, etc. Those songs that you have on repeat to listen to again and again!

Activity Comfort

Do you have an activity that comforts you? Maybe you just need a break to play, laugh and have fun. Maybe you find release and comfort in physical activity. Find your inner kid along with your sense of humor and have some much needed play and fun time!

Think crazy cat videos, goats in pajamas, etc.!

Remember to keep the mind active too! Trying new things. Continuing to learn and develop. Keeping the mind active is challenging as well as rewarding! That feeling of I can do this. That feeling of satisfaction and accomplishment. It is inspiring and motivating!

Creative Comfort

Remember to create your comfort!

Create and set healthy boundaries for yourself and your whole, well being! Helps you become more productive with your time and energy. Puts the drama and negativity on simmer. You will feel more energized and less drained in doing for yourself and your needs!

Tune into your intuition! It is like a self check to see what is working and what is not as well as what is serving you best and what is not. How do you really need to spend your time and energies?

Tap into your creative being! Engage your creative side (mind and heart) as well as surround yourself with creativity. Really stretch yourself and the possibilities are endless in being creative!

Home Comfort

How do you stay rooted?

I think about home. Finding that place that gives you calm, comfort and solace. Your favorite spot to just be and hang out!

The gathering and connecting. The eating and communicating. The grounding and comforting. The loving and supporting.

Home Sweet Home!

Five Senses Comfort

Remember to engage your five senses!

  • Music (hearing).
  • Fauna, flora or aromatherapy (smell).
  • Watching the sun rise or set (vision).
  • Taste (taking pleasure and enjoyment in what you eat).
  • Touch (feeling the ground beneath your feet).

There is nothing better for the being than soaking up some natural rays too! Think about the lighting in your home and work environments too.

R&R Comfort

Do you hit the snooze to have five extra minutes in bed? To meditate, to stretch, etc. Sometimes it helps you wake more naturally then just jumping out of bed once the alarms sounds.

  • Curling up with a good read.
  • Sitting back with a bowl of popcorn to watch a good movie.
  • Taking a cat nap.

Temp Comfort

Sometimes you want the heat and other times you want the cool! Spicy foods, hot yoga, etc. Ice coffee, air conditioning, etc. Have you ever found yourself curled in a blanket with the AC blasting – ha!

Here’s to Finding What COMFORTS You! Love to Hear Your Thoughts, Please Share.

Doing Nothing

Is Being Productive

Have you found your “do nothing”, “lay like broccoli” thing?

Vivian: Let’s watch old movies all night… we’ll just veg out in front of the TV.

Edward Lewis: Veg out?

Vivian: Yeah. Be still like vegetables. Lay like broccoli.

Edward Lewis: Look, I’ll tell ya what. I’ll be back. We’ll do broccoli tomorrow. ~From the movie Pretty Woman

We are still human beings and not robots even with all this technology at our fingertips! We cannot be on “ON” 24/7/365. We have limits when it comes to managing, processing and doing. Please stop the crazy busyness!

Do you think about why you are having a bad day? When all you want to do is get back home, climb into bed and call it a day. Especially when everything seems to go wrong and nothing is easy let alone falling into place. We all have those days that are pushing our limits!

  • Stress, anxiety and tension.
  • Being “on” and “over” abc, xyz.
  • Brain on a continuous loop.
  • Disruptions and distractions.
  • Mood, attitude, behavior alters/changes.
  •  Heading towards burn out.

First, do not let that become a new state of being. Second, stop before you take action that you will later regret.

Give yourself a break and make time for yourself! It is okay to take 5 to breathe, stretch and clear your mind. It is okay to use the time you earned to take a day off. The mind and body need R&R!

  • It can be good for your whole well being.
  • It can be relaxing and re-energizing.
  • It can be restful and refreshing.
  • It can be inspiring and motivating.
  • It can get the creative juices flowing.

Remember Saturday mornings as a kid eating your bowl of cereal in front of the TV watching cartoons. I enjoyed the old school cartoon classics, like Wile E Coyote and Road Runner, Tom and Jerry, etc. Netflix binge anyone! What are you currently in to?

Sometimes it is nice to add in a do nothing buddy! To share and connect in doing something you both enjoy and love. To laugh, play and have fun. When was that last time you laughed so hard it was like a release to your whole being?

  • Reading a book or wandering the local library or book store.
  • Laying a blanket down and watching the clouds.
  • Taking in the arts.
  • Breathing/Meditating.
  • Getting curious and exploring.
  • Getting lost in the city, great outdoors or anything in between.
  • Doing Absolutely NOTHING!!!

The possibilities are endless in doing nothing!
