I am dedicating this post to my personal trainer and all the hard work we have put in together!
I experienced a back injury. I have never worked with a personal trainer, so I did not know what to expect. I knew I would be working on strengthing my lower back and core. I have done so much more than that and I am getting stronger everyday!
I Am “DISCOVERING MY STRONG”!
EVERYTHING is connected! You know that song . . . the hip bone is connected to the . . . The best decision I made in my recovery process was transitioning from a physical therapist to a personal trainer! I am getting a total body workout and it feels pretty darn good too.
I am learning so much about POSTURE! In not having proper posture it can and will cause you pain. I am not the slouching and slumping type. I am gulity of being a desk jockey and not moving and stretching enough throughout my work day. I should not be all that amazed that in what I do to my body on a daily basis is done by me, myself and I!
My abs are coming back into shape again! I really thought my abs gave up and left for good there. I thought my upper body hitched a ride with my abs too! I am slowly finding those deep core muscles and learning to stregthen those muscles.
I am learning just how important alignment is and that balance and stability matters to everything you do! My pelvis is a key player in aligning my spine and lower limbs. I have been strengthing my outer thighs as well as my inner thighs to keep the hip and knee joints aligned to decrease discomfort or pain.
I am learning that the shoulders matter to posture and stability! I never would have thought about the shoulders as stabilizers to assist with posture. All those muscles need to be worked from the biggest and badest to the tiniest! Let me tell you working those tiny muscles is tough and not all that pain free either. I certainly sit up straighter now too!
NO (Good) Pain, NO Gain!
I still struggle when it comes to relaxing my shoulders and my neck! My shoulders love to creep up and my neck moves forward. I am pretty protective when it comes to my neck, head and brain and that adds to the tension at times. I so want to master this relaxation to help out my upper and lower spine! I know my back would love me for that too.
I never knew how IMPORTANT my wrists were! That tightness, tension and stress in my shoulders affects the shoulders, the arms and the wrists. I had some bad habits when it came to my wrists and lifting with my wrists. I am actually able to bear weight and lift things correctly without discomfort, weakness or pain now!
I am learning to break the bad forms I have created and that have become habit! I actually stop now when something does not feel right and figure out the right way to do it. Every workout session is practice to develop memory and build precision with movements. I am discovering a new normal when it comes to living and playing as well as staying active and exercising!
Working IT The RIGHT Way!
The Best Part for me is tuning into and listening to my body and my needs! I am taking care of my whole being and getting that total body workout that my body deserves!
