A Mindful Escape

Clearing the Mind

Cleansing the Spirit

Do you have those mornings where you just cannot get started? Do you have those days where you feel discombobulated and nothing goes right? Do you have those nights where you cannot shut down and get a restful night of sleep?

You are on OVER everything and anything! You are so wound up that you feel you are ready to snap. You are ready to binge out or zone out. You are numb and bored. You are ready to laugh or cry or insert multiple emotions at once!

You need a much needed mindful escape! To reboot, to restart and to recharge. To rid yourself of all the “de” words that keep popping up in your head. To find that person even you want to be around again!

My Top 3 Escapes

  1. I escape by traveling, adventuring or exploring.
  2. I escape to nature and the great outdoors.
  3. I escape within myself to reconnect.

Practice self love, compassion and kindness by taking care of your needs. Communicate with yourself and ask what you need. You are so worth it to give back to yourself!

Practice listening to your inner voice, following your heart and trusting your instincts. Connect with your breathe to feel energized and motivated. Interact and engage yourself, especially in playing and having fun!

Practice releasing and letting go of what no longer serves you. By turning inward you reconnect with your whole being. You start clearing, cleaning and cleansing the “stuff” that just needs to GO!

Remember to take time for yourself, especially to do what you love!

Get Lost

In A Great Book

Love this quote!

“Books are the plane, and the train, and the road.

They are the destination and the journey.

They are home.” ~Anna Quindlen

I love getting lost in reading a great book! A mystery. A page turner that sucks me in. A great read that I find hard to put down!

I have to be comfortable and find a comfy spot to read! I like very little distractions or disruptions. I want to get lost and get sucked in. I want to escape reality and be transported!

I love imagining myself in the setting in the book! I enjoy when I can relate to the characters in the story. I think about how I would think or feel if I was that character and in their shoes. I love when I fall in love with a character throughout the story! I find myself usually rooting for the under dog.

Happy Reading! Happy Escaping and Getting Lost In Reading a Great Book!

That is the Question

To me life is putting one foot in front of the other and setting off on an ADVENTURE of a LIFETIME!!!

  • To BE in the minute.
  • To BE in the present moment.
  • To BE on MY journey.

Going For One Wild Ride Of A Lifetime – Weeeee!!!

Making the Grade

Life happens and if anything it schools you! You gain life lessons and gain life experiences. You will grow, change, transition, and repeat! Life is nurturing and nourishing yourself, your needs and your whole being.

I think I have been schooled in boxing. I have the ability to get back up when knocked down. I am learning what to let go of and what is worth fighting for. I know when I need to take a stance and wait for it . . . I know when I need to smile and simply walk away.

I think I have been schooled in picking battles. I have the ability to pick and choose my battles, most of the time. I am learning what battles matter and what battles just do not. I know when I need to take a stand and wait for it . . . I know when I need to put my game face on and when to take it off.

Learning To Adapt

The BEST things to do are to pause, take a deep breathe, count to 10, and repeat!

“The more that you read, the more things you will know.

The more that you learn, the more places you will go.” ~Dr. Seuss

Learning to LIVE in the Present Moment

I am learning to not only live in the present moment, but to be more in the present moment and enjoy the process throughout that moment! I like to ask questions and be curious. I really want to know the Who, the What, the Why, and the How at times! I can drive myself mad as well as other people with this questioning. So . . . I am learning to jump in with both feet, go with the flow and just let it unfold!

The BEST thing is I can make decisions, choices and changes, which gives me the opportunity to be open to ALL experiences!

MY Journey

When I think about setting goals for myself I really look into my interests and passions as well as my wishes and dreams! I am the one who defines my success and how I contribute to my life and with other people. I enjoy life way more when I am having fun living it! If I just get one thing accomplished and done to the best of my abilities I am having a great day.

I need to be challenged and engaged on a daily basis or you will have one bad monkey on your hands if not! This includes my whole being too. I am a mover and shaker and enjoy being an active person! I am pretty lucky to have a body that lets me be active too.

I am a slow learner when it comes to change, especially seeing the changes I need to make in myself to become a better version of me! Sometimes the one thing you are looking for is already something you have – duh. I know myself better than anyone, so why not use that to my advantage to learn, change and grow!

The BEST thing is being true to myself and who I am!

The Great ESCAPE On My Journey

I have to ESCAPE to be a better version of me too! I have to stop the insanity and the crazy busyness and just get away from it ALL. Nothing better than becoming one with myself and finding my solace than being in the Great Outdoors! I also day dream throughout the day to keep my mental state of sound mind.

The BEST things are to take care of myself, treat myself, CELEBRATE, and repeat!

Pinching Pennies & Saving Dimes

Escape Without Breaking the Bank!

Do you pinch pennies and save dimes when it comes to traveling?

I caught you, you were looking for spare change just now, right! That is okay though and every little bit helps to escape reality for a while. I think it is important to plan, prioritize and be flexible when it comes to traveling. Who does not want a little change left over in the piggy bank to start planning the next great escape!

The “major expenses” when it comes to traveling are . . .

  1. How Do I Get There
  2. How Will I Get Around
  3. Where Do I Stay

These 3 “major expenses” are usually the biggest chunk of monies you spend when it comes to traveling. So save monies where ever you can when it comes to airfare, transportation and accomodations!

Do you search and search for the best deals out there? Exhaust ALL Resources if necessary.

I enjoy traveling, but do not want to break the piggy bank or go into massive credit card debt doing it! There are some simple things you can do to save money when it comes to traveling. You can keep it on the down low money wise and still have the best time ever!

  • Airfare – How would you like to get there and at what cost? Consider time and schedule as well as budget and any additional costs.
  • Transportation – Many options available. From road tripping to train to rental car to bus to public transportation. Consider the cost and availablity of the many options.
  • Accommodations – The possibilities to choose from are endless. From Resorts to Rentals, Hotels to Motels, RV Parks to Campgrounds, and everything in between. Consider your style and pleasure.
  • Food – Plan and budget meals. Eat Out or Eat In. Check out the local grocery stores and markets. Stock up on snacks and drinks.
  • Shopping – Tax Free, Yes!
  • Attractions – Look for discount coupons or take advantage of discounts for children, students and 50+.
  • Rewards – Look into Reward programs or Membership programs, like AAA, Good Sam’s Club, AARP, etc.
  • Package Deals – Save money by bundling to get a better discount.
  • Bid Your Own Price!
  • Avoid the Weekend Prices!
  • Travel in the Off Season. Better prices and less crowds.
  • Use Social Media, like Groupon or Living Social.

Remember when you use a discount website be aware of any service fees as well as the site’s cancellation policy. Those additional service fees can start to add up! Make sure to read everything even the fine print before hitting the final purchase button.

Happy Traveling!!!

The Great Outdoors

The Great Outdoors

Hopefully your idea of the great outdoors is NOT like Dan Aykroyd and John Candy in The Great Outdoors. A marauding bear, crazy raccoons, bats in the middle of the night, a wild thunderstorm.  Fun Fact:  The Great Outdoors was actually shot on location in Bass Lake, California, a small resort town near Yosemite National Park. Yosemite is truly a place where you can explore and enjoy the great outdoors.

Escape, Explore & Experience . . .

Who does not enjoy wide open spaces after a day or week of hanging out in cubeland! Have you noticed the cubes are shrinking lately? Maybe the cubes are shrinking because the workload continues to increase and the paperwork and files are taking over – what about that paperless system! Did I lose you? Have I stressed you out? Have you run out of the office after reading this to the great outdoors?

Yes, Escape, Explore & Experience the Great Outdoors. The BIGGEST PLAYGROUND is just out your front door – take advantage of it.

#1 Escape

The 1st step is escaping the hustle and bustle and to just get moving, get outside. Take advantage of the Green Spaces in the cities we live as well as the State and National parks nearby. Like I stated above one big playground waiting to be used for enjoyment.

#2 Explore

The next step is twofold in being open to exploring as well as being adventurous. What an Adrenaline Rush at times! You may never know if you like to do something unless you try it first – right.

Okay, I realize not everyone is a fan of the great outdoors. Trust me when I say there are plenty of options that do not require getting dirty, putting up with insects and snakes, and having close encounters with the local wildlife. You can and will find your comfort zone when it comes to the great outdoors.

The majority of people enjoying the great outdoors wear the outdoors with pride, like a badge of honor. You may over hear mountain bikers talking about falls, scraps & scars. I have hiked many trails in Yosemite and afterwards you have that hiker stance, are covered in dust and looking for food because you are STARVING! You can so rock helmet hair after a long bike ride – at least you know you got out there and did it. Trust me when I say after an hour or so in the great outdoors nothing will mess with you because you STINK!!!

#3 Experience

At the end of the day it is all about the experience – what you did, what you accomplished & what memories you made! I am not saying that you do not live life if you never go outside, but it sure makes it a better experience if you do. I recall my experience with the Panaroma Trail in Yosemite. Was I totally prepared for the experience? No! Was it challenging? Yes! Did I do it and enjoy it? Yes & No! I ate that trail and spit it out and it bit me back with a sprained knee, but I will never forget it – not one of my finest moments, but the best experience of my life!
