In the Park
There is a Mama Mallard with a brood right now in the local park. She has a handful of multi-colored ducklings and one yellow duckling fuzzball. Love a great surprise!

I love the cuddly sweetness of these ducklings. Great pix and so much fun to see. What do you know about the color variations–why one baby would be all yellow and the others multi-hued? Just curious.

I do not completely understand the coloring either – could be genetics or somewhere along the family line got together with a domesticated duck. The yellow duckling actually stands up to preen – the rest of the ducklings did not do this. Interesting to watch. Enjoy 🙂 Happy Day!

It sounds like you had a great time watching the ducklings and noticing the difference other than color.

I have become a bit of a bird watcher since moving here 🙂 I took a picture of the yellow duckling preening, but came out blurry. I will have to go back for some action shots.

There is something so appealing to me about ducks. Geese– not so much.

I have to agree with you on ducks vs. geese. Happy Day – Enjoy 🙂
