Wintertime
How do you practice being a healthier whole being in the winter months?
Your whole being can shift in the winter months. The days are colder, darker and shorter. Your energy and mood can shift from low to high and everything in between. Some people are coming off the excitement of the holidays. Some people are trying to ramp up into that healthier lifestyle in eating good and being active.
Focus
Focus on the right here, right now! The big picture can be exciting as well as overwhelming. It is okay to break it down to focus on the little things and take baby steps. It becomes more realistic and achievable. Remember to celebrate along the way too! It will help you stay focused and that becomes inspiration and motivation to keep going.
There is nothing better than being present in the moment to experience and make memories to reminisce about later on! Plus that is added inspiration and motivation too!
Practice
Please go easy on yourself in giving your whole being some much needed love, kindness and comfort! Make time for you. Give back to yourself. Treat yourself. DO what works BEST for YOU!
In being hard or beating yourself up it takes a toll on you and your whole being! It does not have to be all or nothing. It is not a one time thing and you have to think in terms of what you do most days to give back to yourself and your whole well being. Give yourself a break and create a little slack too!
Do we really need to add anymore stress, anxiety, frustration, tension . . . I would hope NOT!
Rest
You need to make time to relax and get plenty of rest. Remind yourself to take 5 minutes, 15 minutes or even up to 30 minutes to unwind before going to sleep. Hit that snooze button in the morning and take that time to stretch and wake up. Put the blue light on the down low too (i.e. phone, TV, etc.). Think restorative sleep versus restless sleep because quality is more important than quantity! Yes you may sleep six to eight hours, but was it restorative. Sleep smarter!
One thing I do for myself at times is to wake naturally on a weekend day. No setting of the alarm. No waking up early to slug through what needs to get done and to run here and there. No hurry either and just take that time for yourself!

My husband and I have started our new year by making healthier eating choices and eating less. A diet challenge at Randy’s workplace, with a $320 pot of money for the winner, spurred this. We’re eating less, not snacking after supper and eating better. Now if only we could motivate ourselves to exercise in the cold of winter.

AWESOME – plus a pot of money is a great motivator too! Do you have a place indoors that you can walk around in? Otherwise you could find some free exercise videos online or just bundle up and head outside. Wishing you guys the best 🙂 Happy Day – Enjoy
