Beauty in its Truest Form

What does Grace mean to you?

I think about manners and decency. I think about common sense. I think about behaviors, attitudes and perceptions. I think about movement(s).

Can Grace shape who you are; give you strength and confidence?

I really think so! By letting grace into your life you add another layer, especially in body, mind and spirit. When you let the positive into your life you live so much brighter! I see no harm in connecting with the grace in my life as well as sharing it with others; everyone benefits.

Have you seen change through Grace in yourself?

I am learning about dealing and accepting change in my life and it is a work in progress! I am trying to be more open and accepting, especially when it comes to things that I have no control over. I do not just want to tolerate life, but live life! I am still not sure how to do that, but I am not giving up, not yet.

I feel that I need to connect to my spirit more when it comes to grace and gratitude as well as compassion and forgiveness. That you give of yourself completely not partially. It certainly is not easy, at least for me! I know I need to tune in more from within myself.

Have you been softened or shaken by Grace in your life?

All of us have had experiences; positive and negative! It affects your life in that moment! You try to handle it to the best of your ability with the best outcome at times. Sometimes that happens and sometimes it does not go in your favor.

I find it hard to think in terms of I will be better off because of this experience at times! I just cannot imagine or envision the final outcome and maybe I am not suppose to either! Maybe that is what finding Grace in your life is all about!

Here’s to Finding Grace In Your Life!

Are Lessons In Love

Lessons Within Lessons and

Lessons of Life

Relationships are teachable moments with multiple layers and many lessons, especially in relation to other people! Just think about what you learn and what you share and what you gain in experiences from those relationships. Think about the relationship you have with yourself too. Pretty Amazing, right!

I love that I can be myself in certain relationships! I do have a voice and I can express myself. I feel that I can be open and free with who I am within that relationship. I can show and share myself and my many layers!

Showing Depth

It is a process though and it takes patience and commitment! I have to create that connection. I have to develop that communication and that interaction. I have to build on that relationship!

I need to trust in myself in order to open my heart and let another person into my inner circle! I can be more open and accepting of what I want to share about myself with another person when there is that trust too. Then there is the possibility and the opportunity to nurture, flourish and grow as a person!

Being Open

I enjoy when growth is a natural process between two people! That ability to build each other up instead of break each other down as individuals. Love versus Fear. Happiness versus Jealously. A desire to benefit and gain as well as experience and grow from and with each other!

I enjoy knowing where the boundaries are in order to give each other the personal space that we both need and want in a relationship! The giving and receiving. The listening and supporting. The respect, esteem and love for each other!

The not trying to change that person and letting them be who they are! The being there for each other when figuring out who we are, where our place is, what we want to do, and how to just live life in general!

Walking Side By Side

I love being an individual and having independence within a relationship! I certainly know it makes me a better partner and friend to myself and other people. I need my own interests, passions and dreams. I need to take time for myself and take care of my needs as well as my whole being!

Then I am not relying completely on another person to do that for me because I can do that for myself! I am nurturing and nourishing myself. I am feeding and fueling myself. Then I can spend time and share with another person and be there for them!

Some relationships are brief while others may last a lifetime! There will be lows and highs. There will be ups and downs. I think the greatest gifts to take out of any relationship is those lessons in growth and gaining life experiences!

Experiencing Growth (Photos by RSheridan)

You never know who you may meet as well as impact or transform by communicating, interacting and connecting with each other!

Every Interaction, Every Relationship is an Evolution in Love and Growth, Especially With Yourself! Love to Hear Your Thoughts, Please Share!

Just Admitting

I think it is perfectly okay to admit when a situation SUCKS! Things will happen that you did not expect or even want to happen. Sometimes these things do not even make any sense either. I know it and you know that IT SUCKS!

To Your Own Rescue – Good Luck!

To Wading Through It

I know I talk about being positive and living the good life! I know I talk about doing what makes you happy and brings you joy. I DO talk about DOING what is BEST for YOU though too! You have to FIND what works for YOU in living YOUR LIFE!!!

I usually ask myself two questions!

  1. Can I change this or not?
  2. What can I learn from this?

I think what I am really trying to say is do not beat yourself up when it comes to “This Sucks!” moments! I would rather work through my emotions, feelings and thoughts than just putting on a brave face. You have to help yourself through these moments! You can prod and push as well as tell yourself that you can do this. However, remember to take the time that you need to wade through it too!

I know when I force myself into getting through something and getting it done it usually backfires for me! I just add to my frustration, worry and stress. I start getting pissed off. I also know it causes me to struggle more than I need to and gets me wrapped up or plain stuck in the situation!

I start asking myself if I can change the situation or not! If I can, I try to do so. If I cannot, I work through it and try to move on. Sometimes things happen that are pretty black and white. Other times things happen that are out of my control and at times make no sense either.

Wading In and Hanging On

Learning Lessons and Growth Spurts

I ask myself what I can learn from the situation! I tend to be a questioner when trying to find solutions and compromise in situations. The hardest part for me is practicing patience throughout this process. Sometimes I want an answer and I want it NOW! Then I have to find my calm, collected and compassionate self.

I always seem to find a lesson and an experience in growth!

Watch Out for the Holes!

Searching, Seeking and Surprises!

I know I do not look for the good and the positive as well as the happiness and the joy in a sucky moment! I have learned that not everything SUCKS though and it is just working through the process that SUCKS at times! I really did not ask to wade through one more thing right now. I really did not ask for another learning lesson or growth spurt. Really!

Why Oh Why!

  • Sometimes it is meant to be that this is happening in your life and nothing is perfect or perfectly timed.
  • Sometimes life just sucker punches you and takes you down a peg. It happens because you need to either step into or step away from your life in these moments. You need to face it head on or take a much needed time out.
  • Sometimes it happens and still makes no sense. Then one day it SURPRISES you with the GOOD and the JOY!
  • Sometimes the HAPPINESS and JOY come from learning, growing and experiencing.
  • Sometimes you just have to have a GOOD LAUGH!

Mettler Family Vineyards

A Generational Legacy

Mettler is One Gorgeous Winery! From the landscaped grounds to the beautiful tasting room to the great views.

Location:  7889 East Harney Lane, Lodi, CA.

Tasting Room Hours:  Open Thursday through Monday from 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Mettler is one of Lodi’s Oldest Farming Families – been growing wine grapes since the late 1800s. One of the very first families to introduce French clones to the Lodi region.

The Wines

A Tradition and a Passion for Making Wine – Excellence from Vineyards to Wine Production!

I love that Mettler lets the fruit come forward in their wines to create intense and well balanced wines. I wanted a bottle of each, but settled on taking one home with me.

Cabernet Sauvignon

Like a “Liquid Ruby” in the glass! The nose is aromatic with intense flavors and oh so good on my palate. A great balance of savory, sweet and spice.

Petite Sirah

This is SEXY in a glass with richness and beauty! A dark purple in the glass (hello! wine wipes) with aromas of chocolate, jam and spice. I could taste the blackberries and blueberries and oh so juicy.

The ‘Epicenter’ Old Vine Zinfandel!

A few words to describe this wine:

  • Epic!
  • Bold and Bright and Juicy
  • Complex Yet Balanced
  • Tasty Richness
  • Depth of Flavors
  • Savory and Sweet and Spice

Worth The Stop to Sip and Relax and Unwind!!!

Finding Yourself

In a Bit of a Pickle

Why can life not go according to plan? It just does and life is just not playing fair at times. I have a feeling that life would become pretty boring in a short amount of time though!

I either dig my heels in and stay put or embrace change in my life! I usually have that moment where I say to myself, “What now?”, “Why me?” and “How did this happen?”. I can either go into negative, “this sucks” mode or instead think good and positive thoughts!

Channeling Your “Inner Gallagher”

I think about channeling my “inner Gallagher” and doing some watermelon smashing! Especially when life gets a little messy and sticky. I wonder if Gallagher is into some chucking of fruits and veggies because it feels pretty good to launch things into the air too! Let’s hope when life throws you a curve ball you are not being thrown rotten tomatoes.

Pumpkin Chucking

Closing a Door, Opening a Window

Open the door and let the XYZ thing(s) I had plan fly right out the door! I will just open the window instead to let the possibilities and opportunities come in. Then close the door! Refrain from slamming the door though because you will eventually have to open it again and again.

You take the good, you take the bad,

You take them both and there you have

The Facts of Life.

Remember to Leave the Gate Open too

Asking for H-E-L-P

Remember to ask for help, guidance and support! I usually gain another perspective when I talk it out and bounce it off someone else. You have to be willing to ask though to receive the help you need.

Left or Right? (Photos by RSheridan)

Remember this too shall past and you will be on to greater things! You are enough as well as a SURVIVOR when it comes to living your life!

Practice and Practice Some More

Building Strength, Mentally

My mental state takes a beating at times! I have to say most of it comes from myself. I set expectations and have my perceptions of myself, other people and in situations. I have to get out of my head and not be so willing to follow my crazy mind!

When I am under pressure I cannot focus mentally. When I am dealing with other people I either want to flee or fight, especially if there is drama, conflict and/or confrontation. When I am in a demanding situation I sometimes struggle when it comes to thinking clearly and concisely. I am just stretched to my limit or at least I THINK I am!

How do you strengthen your mental aptitude?

The biggest lesson I have learned from building strength mentally is to know myself! Also, it helps to know what is important to me. It matters to me in staying true to who I am! It gives me a sense of priority and purpose too.

I try to remain as calm and collected as possible. I try to put a smile and a positive spin on it too! Sometimes instead of envisioning the outcome I focus on the challenge at hand. This gives me a plan when figuring out what I want to do and where I want to go!

Basically, I ask myself 2 questions!

  1. What did I do well?
  2. What solutions are available to me to solve the problem at hand?

I remember the one manager I had a few years back. This manager did not want to hear problems unless you came with some solutions to those problems! This manager wanted you to change your thought process of a problem to focusing on thinking of solutions. I know it helped me in my thought processes as well as strengthing my mental aptitude!

This manager also helped me be more self motivated and to really trust myself and my abilities! This manager really challenged me mentally as well as motivated me mentally, emotionally and physically. I enjoyed that constructive feedback and that overall collaboration. I appreciated that building up instead of breaking me down!

This also holds me accountable to myself! If I take accountability I am way more likely to be successful. I really do not want to slack off, pass off or short myself. For me it is about doing the best that I can and knowing that I did it to the best of my abilities too! Otherwise I am not gaining, growing or learning in these situations because I am not following through to the end.

By growing and learning I am changing, improving and transitioning as a person and a better version of myself too! I strongly believe in learning and doing better when I make mistakes, have setbacks and experience failures. In building my mental strength I build my confidence too! This helps reduce the anxiety, pressure and stress. I have the ability to remain focused and hopefully find my patient, calm and collected self. The ultimate end result is being able to perform better by being able to think on my feet in order to take action!

Here’s a Brain Teaser to Keep Your Mind Sharp – Can you think of a word associated with all three of these words: cottage, Swiss, cake? Go!

The Wheel of Life

Getting On, Getting Off Or Getting Stuck On It

I feel stuck on the wheel of life at times and while I got on I cannot seem to get off sometimes! I am so dizzy!

Did you ever stop to think,

and forget to start again? ~Winnie the Pooh

One BIG Wheel!

What about you?

I have days and weeks and sometimes even months where I feel on, off or plain stuck when it comes to certain aspects in living my life! I am learning that I have to find my own balance when it comes to myself and my needs. My professional life is stuck on idle lately and has been that way for a little too long! I know I have to rev it up and keep it moving forward though.

Starting the Day

How do you motivate yourself to jump start what is “stuck” in your life?

High Expectations

I tend to get stopped in my tracks when I set my expectations too high! I have to ask myself why I want something and then figure out how to go about getting it. This gives me the opportunity to listen to my needs and what I want in my life. Does this really matter to me or not?

The Next Thing Syndrome

I love getting jump started by thinking if I move on to the next thing and the next thing and the next thing I will get unstuck! All that really does for me is kick my frustration and impatience into high gear. Sometimes I take a break or at least a step back to take a new approach to seeing myself in my current situation! Sometimes that gives me the push I need to head in the right direction or at least gets me moving one foot in front of the other.

The Next and the next and the next OR Seeing the Beauty Instead

Gotta Love Procrastination

I love when procrastination sets in while being stuck! I try to motivate myself and even that backfires at times. This is especially true when it comes to a change or a transition in my life that I want no part in! I just dig myself deeper in, find the most comfortable position and wait it out. Someone hand me a rope or shovel, pretty please!

I also feel at times procrastination sets in because it just does not feel right to me to make a change or tranisiton in my life! I want to take the time to figure out the whys and why nots as well as weigh the pros and cons in making a change or transition in my life. Sometimes I do not want to make a change because I feel safe with the familiar and if it is not broke why fix it. Sometimes I do not want to make a change because it is not the right change to make at that time. Sometimes I make the change and end up on a path that I do not want to be on, but that is okay because I can change it again and again!

Learning to Coast Along . . .

Get Going, Stopped and Stuck Once Again

I love when I get myself going and barely get going before I am stopped and stuck again! It is like my mind and my body have the worst case of hiccups ever. I think it is my way of pausing and reflecting as well as looking at the directions to make sure I am going in the direction I want! I have to figure out what I need as I go along in order to head in the direction I want.

I really just have to figure out and find my own pace and balance when it comes to living my life! I also have to learn how to get on and off the “wheel of life” better and much smoother too!

Block 14 Zinfandel

Bright and Flavorful! Beautiful in the glass and one to take your time with and just sip.

Block 5 Old Vine Zinfandel

Beautiful and Intense and Great Tasting! Savory and Spice too. A full bodied wine great balance.

Petit Verdot

A blend of 75% Petit Verdot, 20% Petite Sirah and 5% Grenache. I love trying and tasting Grenache. Beautiful in the glass with an aromatic nose with fruitiness and subtle tannins. The mouth feel was soft and the palate was pleased!

I love trying and tasting Charbono – RARITY to see on a wine tasting list! Certainly need to sip and savor with food. The color in the glass is amazing and the taste is very pleasing on the palate too. Smooth, Bold and has Character.

So Many Wines To Try and Taste! I Will Need To Come Back!

For the Greater Good

I do not know about you, but there are times that the words schedules, routines, habits, and changes just has me gritting my teeth and bearing it with a smile upon my face!

Smiling . . .

Here is My Reasoning . . .

Point #1 – Why do I need to schedule my day? I really only want to do so much in one day and do I really need to add scheduling to it!

Point #2 – Why do I need to have a routine? I really only want to do what I feel like doing in one day and following a routine is not something I feel like doing!

Point #3 – Then you take that schedule and that routine and on top of the old habits you add new habits! Hopefully if you are lucky some of the new habits have replaced some of the old habits. Otherwise in a few years you will be kicking yourself while trying to break some of those habits once again!

Point #4 – I sense a vicious cycle to get involved in here people!

Do Not Get Me Wrong! I do want to be a better version of myself as well as change my life for the better too. For me the end goal is being able to make better choices that help me feel good about myself and the life I am living! I will always be a work in progress and I am okay with that.

There are benefits, rewards and payoffs with everything I do, especially when it comes to living the life I want! Sometimes this means having to switch up my schedule and my routine as well as creating new habits and making changes to improve for the better. I love when one improvement makes positive waves and touches multiple aspects in my life! Nothing better than being happy and healthy.

Any thoughts? Any suggestions?

I know I have to work to play, but sometimes I want to play before getting down to work!

Playing . . . Having Fun . . .

I struggle when it comes to finding my pace and my balance! I do not have the time to waste more of my time or my energy. I do not want to be sucked into a time warp! I prefer to be in the moment, focus on the task at hand and enjoy the process.

I am on the fence some days about being on autopilot! There are times where too much of being on a routine is not necessarily a good thing. There are times I am so on autopilot I have to stop, think and wonder did I just do that or how did I get here. Yes, it saves me time and energy, but I feel like I am missing something too!

I struggle when I cannot stop thinking about something I really want! That temptation kicks in and it is hard to resist. My crazy mind has me thinking if I get busy doing something else it will just go away. Yeah, good luck with that!

I like to think it comes down to self control, but how much control do I really have over my self control! I enjoy my creature comforts and sometimes it is easier to fall back on my habits too. I know I need to be more open and accepting of the process and not just stop when I do not like something or it gets tough! There are those beneficial changes and transitions that if you are open will have great payoffs.

The Present and The Positive

My Top Needs . . .

  • Living the life I do have!
  • Being more in the present moment.
  • Focusing on the positive.
  • Tapping into my willpower.
  • Becoming more self aware.
