When It Comes To Working Out
I did go there in 2012 with the total body conditioning classes! I am pretty sure now it was not a total body workout, but a punishment to my whole being. My mind was telling me love while my body was screaming for me to RUN AWAY! I ended up with a pretty significant injury that ended my craze with those workouts.
RUN . . . AWAY . . .
My mental state and my physical being were at war with each other and that was stressing my whole being out! My mind went into lock down and my whole being went into survival mode. I was making myself sick, unwell and unhealthy in doing that. I need to take care of my whole being and not just pound it in to submission with every workout!
STOP the Madness
I am not crazed enough in my own mind and body to sign up for Crossfit or a Boot Camp! I have witnessed Boot Camps in the gym I go to and it is too many people trying to do way too many things at one time. I understand enough about Crossfit to never do it! There is no incentive for me to gain in that I am not training for anything. I am just trying to get fit and healthy!
So . . .
Enough Said – ha!
I went back to the basics in 2013 and have not looked back! I finally have found my groove when it comes to working out. I stepped off the treadmill and thanks to a little help have discovered just what the gym and its various areas can do for my whole being! I finally have found that two days in the gym is enough for me. I love hitting the Great Outdoors for another workout or two throughout the week too!
I have not picked up a dumbbell or barbell in years and now are part of my workout again! I am still doing the standards, like sit-ups and push-ups as well as squats and lunges. I love not having to get on the floor to do sit-ups and push-ups! I am learning that there is key machines in the gym to use to my benefit and enjoy learning how to use those machines.
Getting the Weights In
I am learning to take care of myself and my whole being! I am taking the time that my body needs to heal, recover and rest. I need to listen to my body and what my body needs! I am feeling good and seeing results for the better now.
I find the gym a place to clear my head and unwind! I no longer find the gym a stressful place. I reevaluated the reasons I exercise after that pretty significant injury sidelined and sidetracked me. I have a new goal now in creating a healthier lifestyle for myself; a true LIFESTYLE CHANGE!
