In The Crazy, Busyness
Do You Try to Find the Calm and the Stillness Daily, Weekly or Monthly?
I do! I have a few things that work best for me. I am able to be more self aware and it helps me release the pressure, tension and stress. I feel less mental and emotional too!
Little Things
I find my calm and stillness in the little things I do for myself and my whole being! It is relaxing and refreshing. I can just let my mind wander and my body be!
- Taking the time in the morning to wake up, lie in bed and just get a good stretch in.
- Having a scheduled time frame to go to bed in the evening as well as taking that 15 to 30 minutes to myself before turning out the lights.
- Taking a walk and watching the sun rise.
- Having a meal or a glass of wine and watching the sun set.
- Building a campfire and star gazing.
- Being aware of my breathing.
- Cooking, baking and eating.
- Being open and embracing the simple and the beautiful!
Getting Outside
I find my center again in getting outside and becoming one with nature! I can just lose myself and still my mind. I love creating a green space in my daily life! I find renewal, hope and growth in having a green space around me.
Writing
I love to brain storm and brain dump! I find it clears my mind and lets me go on a bit of a tangent too. I find writing relaxing and calming. I feel more energetic and creative too!
Reading
I can get really lost and zone out while reading, especially if it is a page turner!
Photography
I see my world differently when I am capturing it! I have been putting the camera down to just soak it in. I am like a tourist as well as on auto pilot when I get into photographing my surroundings! I become more aware and observant of those surroundings too.

To find the calm and the stillness is easy:
– wake up, yawn and stretch
– have a shower
– have your first, second, third, etc. mug of coffee
– watch the cats, kiss the husband
– read, write
– enjoy the sun, clouds, rain
– listen to ‘Happy’ by Pharell
– etc. 🙂

Writing and photography, definitely. It’s like the world around me just slides away when I’m pursuing either of my passions.

Love this post! It comes at a really good time because I’ve been working day and night the last few days and feeling tense and overwhelmed. I continued to be busy today but at 4 pm my husband made the 3 of us (+ son) go for a group run. There is a new walking trail right near our house so we went for a wonderful walk/run. I went out for 30 minutes and it was a perfect break. Thanks for writing this. 🙂

Sometimes you just have to step away to play, laugh, and to have some enjoyment and fun!

Dude. What a good post. Definitely look forward to a finding the calm in my day. With two kids the mornings usually consist of crazy chaos, so I definitely look forward to the quiet of the night during weekdays. It’s awesome to have those moments where I can be mindful of the little things. But I wasn’t aware of this taking time out until a year and a half ago when I did a meditation challenge. Dude. Totally opened my mind to the Zen like possibilities and less gray hair 🙂 I love your little things list too.

I love photography and writing because both make me appreciate the world more. Visits to a wine shack would definitely help too! 🙂

I find my calm by thinking about it and concentrating on it. I am, mentally, a very active person. My brain moves around a lot. Since the stroke, there is more linear functioning in that I stay on a topic and don’t bounce around so much, but still, to be calm, I have to stop and think calm. I can do it more now and more quickly, but still…
