Au Bon Climat Winery

(ABC) for Short

I am so EXCITED! Au Bon Climat Winery now has a Tasting Room in Downtown Santa Barbara – located at 813 Anacapa Street. Their new tasting room is beautiful and gives you the option to taste their wines ($10 pp), since their winery is not open to the public for tastings or tours.

Feel the Love in Their Wines

I love ABC’s Pinot Noir – the color is an amazing shade of plum – the wine dances on your palate with fruitiness. The awesomeness of this wine is that it goes with everything.

I enjoyed tasting a white wine varietal of ABC called the “Hildegard” (55% Pinot Gris, 40% Pinot Blanc & 5% Aligote – White Table Wine, Santa Maria Valley). Another wine varietal that plays with your palate – taste apple, almond and a hint of bakery/pastry – the color is almost golden in the glass – a delicious, but complex wine. The wine server stated that the wine bottle of the “Hildegard” is like a double glass bottle and of dark glass to perserve the quality of the wine and can actually be stored and opened years later.

Tried the Vita Nova brand and loved the Acronicus red blend (40% Cabernet Sauvignon, 40% Merlot and 20% Petit Verdot). The color of this wine in the glass is gorgeous (should have taken a pic of that). The wine server stated that this is a SuperTuscan Blend. This red blend probably will taste better with food – stay tuned on a more comprehensive review.

Playing Dress Up

Makes Me Feel Better About Myself

Remember playing dress up as a child and borrowing your mother’s shoes and accessories to complete the look! I sometimes wonder what happen to that girl who liked to play dress up. Well she is coming back now! I am enjoying dressing up once again because it makes me feel better about myself. Plus you do not have to spend a lot to make yourself look like a MILLION BUCKS either!

BE the BEST YOU!!! (Photo by RSheridan)

I still prefer the natural look and just make sure I take really good care of my skin, hair and nails. Moisturizer is key!

Do you think it is important to pay attention to the way you dress? Do you think it is worth the effort and time?

I know when I LOOK GREAT I feel like I can CONQUER just about anything or at least feel much better about myself!

Let’s HIT a NEW HIGH instead of a NEW LOW when it comes to dressing, especially when going out in public! One person’s idea of appropriate just may be another person’s idea of inappropriate. I try hard not to judge, but sometimes it is blatantly obvious – ha! Maybe you do care, but not about what other people think. Whatever; have to learn to pick your battles at times!

I think there can be a casual pizzazz where you look stylish and glamourous as well as have vitality and healthy going on too!

Casual Pizzazz 101

  • Great Pair of Jeans (that flatter your shape)
  • Basic Tees (black, white and maybe a pop of color thrown in)
  • Jacket (pretty much throw on and wear with anything)
  • Metallic or Costume Jewelry (do not have to spend a lot and can keep the accessories to a bare minimum)
  • Shoes Matter (keep in good shape too)
  • Everyday Dress or two (can dress up or down)
  • Moisturizer (do not leave home without it on)

Then LET the TRANSFORMATION Happen! When you feel great about yourself it shows from the inside out. It is So WORTH the EFFORT and FUN! Who knows you may just shout at yourself that I AM SEXY and HAVE IT GOING ON. DANG GIRL! I realize it can be a balancing act at times, so hang in there and give it a try at least.

We put our energy into what we say, how we speak, etc. Leave a little of that energy for playing dress up. LOOKING & FEELING GREAT about yourself MATTERS! Be the BEST You!

Instead of hearing SOMEONE ELSE state “You are wearing that?”, you can make dang sure that YES I AM and OWN IT!!! Pretty Soon that Question will be a thing of the Past!

EMBRACE

Yourself

Back on December 5, 2012 I wrote a post called Enough Said. This post is a follow-up to that post to discuss the following question:

How do you EMBRACE who you are?

Does the word PERFECT grate on your nerves? Do you feel the need and pressure TO BE PERFECT? STOP That!

The one thing that just sets me on edge is the ATTITUDE and PERCEPTION of others that you do not toe the line, play the game, feed into the drama, etc! I could go on and on – blah, blah, blah. It is OKAY to change, experience growth and continue to learn as a person! Why put that added pressure and stress on ourselves? Instead get PASSIONATE, JUST BE & LIVE LIFE LARGE!!!

YOU Do Not Need to DO More, BE More, HAVE More – Just BE! You are ALREADY AMAZING!!!

Really take the time to have a heart-to-heart with yourself and remember to share your hopes, dreams and passions with the ones you love. In the end the ones that love you will be your biggest supporters as well as cheerleaders in this game called life! Really make time for yourself; even 5 minutes. Do Not Sell Yourself Short!

Really EMBRACE Yourself! You DESERVE It! LOVE Yourself!!!

At this stage in my life it is more about being true to myself and not about will people like me and accept me for who I am. I do belong and have a purpose. I do want to share my strengths and talents as well as my adventures and passions with others. The others that GET me will want to HANG with me – ha!

So . . . Why not have the “Really EMBRACE Who You Are” person in your life instead!

How Are You Doing?

Feeling Good About Yourself

Part of taking control of the life I want in 2013 is assessing how I am doing. This includes feeling good about myself as well as reflecting on appreciation and gratitude on a daily basis. I am trying really hard not to plan or set goals and just go with the flow, be in the present moment. So far it feels pretty darn GREAT!!!

I am finding that trust in myself again to get what I really want out of my life, especially on a daily basis. I am finding a new normal and just letting go for a change of pace. I feel less pressure, tension and stress. I feel more calm, excitement and contentment. I feel nutured, satisfied and fulfilled with myself.

Going With the Flow, Obstacles Included (Photo by RSheridan)

I cannot believe how amazing you can feel when you control and manage your emotions and feelings. You feel on a new level when you get what you want/need out of your life. You feel freer to make choices and not let those choices influence you and your response. You feel like you have a purpose to pursue in your life again.

I am learning that everything is connected and that it truly comes from the inside out. I am discovering my inner strength and inner peace. I am finding my natural rhythm to get calm, connected and grounded. I am really listening to my inner voice to find my true self and just let her shine.

Get What You Really Want Out Of Your Life! Be Who You Want To Be! Reconnect With Yourself & How You Are Doing! Live Your Life With Drive & Purpose!

Switch IT Up

Break the Routine

Do you feel like a human on a treadmill going no where fast somedays? It is just a means to end; getting in your exercise for the day, week and/or month. I find it a little ironic that we sit and commute to work, sit at work (good majority do), sit and commute to the gym, and then go home to sit some more or lay down for 4 to 6 to 8 hours. Think about that for a minute!

Breaking the Chain/Routine! (Photo by RSheridan)

Any wonder why we might be bored and want to break free of the routine? I realize that this is part of living life. However, I am not all that amazed about how much time I sit on my arse and how I have become a slave to technology. You cannot even escape technology at the gym! At least it helps with the boredom, right!

Remember PLAYING as a kid. It was FUN! I try to pick activities I enjoy when it comes to exercising. I do try to challenge myself though too by switching up my routine, maybe taking in a class or checking out a new machine. I just feel a little more motivated exercising when I enjoy the activity!

Fun Sneaks = MOTIVATION (Photo by RSheridan)

Some Tricks

  • Switch up your routine
  • Improve your skills
  • Increase your intensity not the duration (hey less time exercising, I like)
  • Find Your Inner Child & Play

Wine Tasting & Lunch

I was so enamored with the place in general that I forgot to write down or take a picture of the list of wines we tried – DUH! I do remember that there was a favorite white varietal and red varietal out of the 5 wines we tasted.

We went on a Friday afternoon for a tasting and some paninis – Italian Meat Panini for Mr. Craves and I had the Panini ala Caprese – YUM! The paninis were served with these delicious, lightly salted Marcona Almonds – I am glad I do not have a nut allergy.

Stax also offers bottles to purchase and wine-related gift items. Their wines are from white to red to pink to bubbles to imports to dessert – more than likely you will find a favorite. For people who are not really into wine there is beer and martinis available.
