The Roosevelt Arch
One thing on my To Do List while in Yellowstone was to see the Roosevelt Arch. We went by car, but imagine back in the early 1900’s entering the park by horse-drawn coaches. The beauty of Yellowstone is still there and being passed from generation to generation. I was introduced to the National Park system at a young age and still enjoy it as an adult. How COOL is that!
Yellowstone was the 1st National Park. The cornerstone of the Roosevelt Arch was laid down by President Theodore Roosevelt in 1903. The Roosevelt Arch is truly part of the history of Yellowstone as well as the National Park system then and now. “For the Benefit and Enjoyment of the People.” I can tell you that I had a little emotional moment when seeing the Roosevelt Arch for the first time. Simply AMAZING!
Interesting Fact: The cornerstone covers a time capsule that contains a Bible, a picture of Roosevelt, local newspapers, and other items.
The Roosevelt Arch is located at the North Entrance of the Park in Gardiner, Montana. Basically cusping Montana and Wyoming in this part of the Park. Why the North Entrance? According to the research I did on the Arch, it was the first major entrance for Yellowstone in the early 1900’s.

That entrance just had a different vibe for me. I had been in Yellowstone for a few days and felt like I was entering “The Yellowstone” when I went through the Arch. I know sounds a little corny, but that is how it made me feel:)

That’s a really inspiring sign! It’s very simple but meaningful. I like the archway too, and it has a lovely view on the other side 🙂
