I always seem to miss the Gateway when I visit Chinatown in the various cities I have traveled to and Portland was no different. Located on NW Fourth and West Burnside Street. I finally saw the Gateway when I was on the bus heading to Sandy by the way of Burnside.
The Gateway has 78 dragons and 58 mythical characters. There are 2 lions on either side of the gate and are male and female (yin and yang elements).

You have to see the Chinese Garden in person because it is a BEAUTIFUL place. I enjoyed taking photos throughout the garden, since a majority of flowers, shrubs and trees were starting to bud and blosom out.
