YOU WILL SHOOT YOUR EYE OUT!!!

The Top 3

  • The “Major Award” won by Ralphie’s Old Man. The family was excited when the large crate arrived marked F-R-A-G-I-L-E (must be from Italy)! What could possibly be inside??? A lamp shaped like a woman’s leg wearing a fishnet stocking – risky or risque!!! Ralphie could not keep his hands off it and the Old Man was delighted with the prize while Ralphie’s mom tried to hide her displeasure. Ralphie’s mom accidently breaks the lamp – coincendce or not!
  • Ralphie’s “Aunt Clara” gives him bunny pajamas for Christmas and has to put it on for the whole family to marvel – oh the humiliation and then his father calls the outfit “a deranged Easter Bunny”!
  • Ralphie helping his father change a flat and saying the F-dash-dash-dash word! Gotta love the soap in the mouth punishment.

The movie really came ALIVE on the Stage!

The Bumpuses numerous bloodhounds who destroy the Parkers’ Christmas turkey. Hello Christmas Chinese Peking Duck! Ralphie’s father (aka the Old Man) and his complaining or swearing about something, like the hounds, the furnace or the car. The Old Man really let the Old Lady have it when she broke his prized Leg Lamp – hillarious scene!

Ralphie receiving his Secret Society decoder pin from the Little Orphan Annie radio show. What an utter disappointment about the secret message!

Ralphie and the neighborhood bully (Scut Farkus) and his sidekick (Grover Dill). Ralphie really let Scut have it – punching and swearing – no actual swearing, keeping the show PG here!

Ralphie dealing with his kid brother Randy and his issues with food (how does the Piggy eat) and him being so bundled up by his mom that he cannot put his arms down. Raannddyyy!!!

Can your tongue stick to a frozen flagpole? YES! Ralphie’s friend Schwartz throws down a “triple dog dare” to Flick who gets his tongue stuck to the pole. Do Not Try This One Kids!

I loved the Santa scene because Ralphie is pushed down the slide by a “BIG” Santa Boot! Ralphie freezes up telling Santa what he wants for Christmas. A Football – on no! He really wants an Official Red Ryder Carbine-Action Two-Hundred-Shot Range Model Air Rifle. The “Big” Boot comes out to push Ralphie down the slide and Santa states “You Will Shoot Your Eye Out!

The children in the production did an amazing job! The main scenery on stage was the inside of the Parkers’ house and the rest of the scenery throughout the show was rolled in and rolled out.

A Great Evening of Fun and Adventure! Remember to Support Your Local Community Art Programs this Holiday Season.

In the End Ralphie gets his Red Ryder BB Gun and almost shoots his eye out, but breaks his glasses instead!!! The Icicle DID IT!

Ya know, I’ve not seen the play, but I HAVE seen the movie about a million times, thanks to endless reruns on Christmas day and relatives that insist on watching it. Maybe the play would bring some of the excitement of the story back to me.

      Rumpy –

I love the movie and the play just about covered every major scene! What I enjoyed the most was just going out for the evening to enjoy a performance and laugh.

I thought I’ve seen the movie but from your discription it’s either another movie or I have not seen it. I’ll sure catch it when I see it in the TV program.

  • Woman In Thrisis

One of my Christmas favorites!! I live near Cleveland where parts of the movie were shot (including the house and street where they live) and I have visited and toured the house! It was so much fun! Someone from California who was a huge fan of the movie bought the property and restored it to look exactly like it did for the movie.

Across the street there is a museum with some artifacts from the set… including Randy’s famous red snow suit. If you’re ever on this side of the country, let me know… I’d love to show ya’ around! 🙂
