I recently read a quote by an amazing women.
I’ve been absolutely terrified every moment of my life –
and I’ve never let it keep me from doing a single thing I wanted to do.
– Georgia O’Keeffe
I would say Georgia O’Keeffe was living life to its fullest with all the normal emotions that come with the ride!
Living life to the fullest is about overcoming our fears and getting out of our comfort zone.
I recently seen a commercial where this girl is on the Internet connecting with others through social media and berating her parents because they have less than 20 friends while she has hundreds and hundreds of friends. This girl is inside interacting with people on the Internet while her parents are outside mountain biking with another couple. Who is overcoming their fears and getting out of their comfort zone???
I am not saying either is a bad thing, but I do feel there needs to be a balance in our lives. You can still have normalcy while changing up the pace and stretching the old comfort zone once in a while.
In writing this post I reflect on another amazing woman, my grandmother, who was a truly genuine person. She shared many grandmaisms with me while I was growing up. What made her amazing to me was that she was her own person and true to herself and others – she did not change to what people wanted or expected her to be. Every day for her was a new day and she could not wait to get started and see what the day offered her. I also think she was up before the chickens most days to just enjoy some peace and quiet before things became a little crazy around the farm.
I like to think I take my grandma’s approach in life that every day is a new day waiting to be explored. Some days are better than others and somehow you manage to put one foot in front of the other and continue moving forward in life. My own spin on this approach is I want to travel, explore and adventure now and not wait.
