Calaveras Big Trees State Park
Located near Arnold, California – became a State Park in 1931 to preserve the North Calaveras Grove of Giant Sequoias. The South Calaveras Grove of Giant Sequoias was purchased in 1954. The North Grove has about 100 mature giant sequoias and the South Grove has about a 1,000 mature giant sequoias. The State Park also has 2 main campgrounds
On the way to Murphys, California stopped at the Calaveras Big Trees State Park to become one with nature for a few hours. We walked the North Grove Trail – basically goes in a big loop – trailhead is just a short walk from the Visitor’s Center.
