The Rogue River and Gorge. The river flows about 215 miles in a westward direction from the Cascades to the Pacific Ocean. The one word that comes to mind is rugged when looking at the river and gorge. The ruggedness is due to the volcanic activity in this area. The Natural Bridge area consists of multiple lave tubes while the Gorge area has multiple pothole formations.
You do not have to be a hiker to explore this area due to the paved walkway. This area takes about two hours to explore and is an area to explore coming from or back from the Crater Lake National Park area if you have the time. The area was rugged, beautiful and offers visitors a chance to learn more about the formation of this area. Well worth the side trip!
