My Heart
My Family has a history of heart disease. The scary part is that it is on my father’s as well as my mother’s family tree. One side of this heart disease has to do with the vascular system while the other side of this heart disease has to do with the heart muscle. If you think about this too long it will scare the crud out of you!
I have become my own patient advocate when it comes to my heart health. I went through some testing to establish a base lines as well as give myself an overall look at my vascular and heart muscle health. In June of 2012 I kicked my cholesterol to healthier numbers – Take That! I want to be proactive versus reactive when it comes to my heart health.
Heart Disease hits close to home for me and it really hit me hard when my sibling had a heart attack in his late-30s. Talk about a Wake Up Call – Hello! I have 3 people within my family unit dealing with this disease. Even when the odds seem stacked against you it is NEVER TOO LATE to get HEART HEALTHY!
Let’s show our hearts some gratitude! Your heart works hard for you every day and deserves to be treated in a healthy way. Give yourself and your heart, body, mind, and spirit a (BIG HUG)!

I will wear red to that! Happy heart day. We do the travel for the American Heart Association. Great company and great cause. My father died of a heart-attack. And I am working on lowering my cholesterol.

My son recently asked for a list of our family medical history. After I compiled the information, I emailed it to him with this message: “You’re doomed.”
But you are correct in that we can take control of our health and make a difference.

That is how it seems at times when delving into the family health history. You have to be your own patient advocate – so important for your health.

The odds are higher, but the mind is a remarkable thing and has more control over our bodies than we think. Hawaii should be good for mind and body
Have fun, stay healthy!

Ya, a person could drive themselves crazy thinking about all the potential health issues of the future. My family has a history is Alzheimer’s. But you are right, the first line of defense is making healthy choices for ourselves! Great post!
